Indy - 5615

4 yr 2 mon (Adult)
Need Fence
Current Location: Casa Grande, AZ

Contact: Nancy Hensley

Dog Story:
Meet Indy! Indy is a beautiful French Brittany who was surrendered to a training kennel. She prefers women but we believe that is because her previous owner was a single woman. She does show reservations toward men. She shows an interest in birds but has had no formal training.

She must have a fence that she CANNOT climb as she climbed right over the top of her outdoor kennel.

She would love to be a house dog with someone who is home often. Someone who can spend time with her giving her the love and attention she craves. Someone who has a boyfriend for her to play with. And maybe someone who can show her how to be a hunting dog.

Charlee - 5744

Neutered Male
House Broken
Need Fence
Current Location: Albuquerque, NM

Contact: Judy Booth

(New Mexico)

Dog Story:
Charlee is an active, large (45 pounds) strong boy. He was originally purchased from a breeder in Texas. Charlee's current owner could no longer afford to keep him, so decided to surrender him to us to find this boy an appropriate home.

Charlee is very active and needs help from a knowledgeable, firm but compassionate partner in learning the finer things of life, such as leash training, etc. Charlee is currently learning things like crate training, using the doggie door. Charlee would be better in a home without small children.

Charlee is heartworm negative and on preventive meds.

If you think Charlee would be a good fit for your home, please contact the foster home for more information.

Sunshine AKA Sunny

Dog Story:
Introducing Sunshine, AKA Sunny. Sunny is a happy little girl who loves to cuddle and play.

Sunny has done very well around her canine brothers & sisters and is tolerated by her feline "friends".  She has done very well in the home and her accidents have been minimal.

When Sunny first came into rescue she has a bad case of Demodex mange.  Luckily, this type of mange is very treatable and is not contagious. After antibiotics, medicated shampoos & bathing, and some TLC, Sunny is doing great  Her hair is growing back and she no longer looks as if Yoda could be her father. Sorry Darth.

Sunny is up to date  on all vaccinations, microchipped and has been recently spayed.  She is on heartworm preventative as well as oral flea & tick medication.  Her current weight is 12.5 and her expected adult weight should be 20-25 pounds

As you can see from the photos, Sunny is not all Brittany.  Not exactly sure what she could be mixed with however a DNA test kit has been requested

Sunny's forever home should be ready for some puppy energy and have patience with some training

Adoption Pending 31 December 2017!!

Dog Story:
Now introducing Faith! Faith is a beautiful orange & white spayed female, weighing 36 pounds, updated on all vaccines, heartworm negative & on prevention and microchipped. She gets along with other dogs very well and has done well with her indoor cats, however I am not sure I would trust her alone with them just yet. Currently, Faith is visiting her foster home in CO and has done extremely well off leash. She rode very well in car dirt from the trip and did well in the hotel room. Faith is learning some basic commands. She is eager to please and is quick to catch on. Her forever family should have an active lifestyle & another dog to play with.

Faith came into ABR mid July. She was surrendered by her AZ family due to snapping at a young child. When she came to her foster home we did notice "fear aggression" with strangers. This has improved significantly however we will not adopt to families with young children or grandchildren. Please understand we want to share with you all that is good wth Faith as well as items needing attention. We want her to find her forever home.

Brittanys usually live 12-15 years, so if you are contemplating adoption, please be prepared to make that kind of commitment to the dog. Brittanys love their people and require personal attention every day.

Dogs placed by American Brittany Rescue, Inc. have been rescued from a shelter, found as a stray, or given up by an owner who could no longer keep or care for them. All dogs in foster homes have been (or will be) spayed or neutered, checked for heartworm, and are usually on preventative medication for heartworm. A dog's foster family can give you valuable information about its personality and temperament.

There are many more Brittany's available but not yet listed on the web site. These pages are always changing as homes are found and new dogs are placed into rescue. Please contact the State Coordinator for more information.

If you know of a Brittany who needs a home, please contact your nearest State Coordinator for assistance.
